I wrote a small script this morning to generate an image that summarizes the different blending modes available in G'MIC. I don't know if that can be really useful to you, but I'll post it here anyway :)

As this is an automatic process, we can change the base/blend images if you have better ideas.

the BlendModes dilemma is a tough one i think

they are hard to understand and i dont think these little diagrams are much of a help, when people have no clue

personally i find the formulas from the Gimp manual a bit easier to understand
and the descriptions from this site really helpful !
