thanks, David!
Just installed.
Obviously I tried immediately "vector painting".
There are no parameters, hence the image shuld be carefully selected to be an appropriate input.
With the attached one I guess the result is fine.
About the general behaviour, I'll let you know if something critical.
Thanks again

Hello dinasset.
Glad to see it is working well.
The "Vector Painting" filter has actually one parameter "Smoothness" that makes a big difference in the result. Don't you have it ?
(could it be a bug?).

sorry, David, the parameter is there, simply I didn't try it because I thought it was related to a kind of blurring, but is much more related to the image structure: great! great!
(maybe the parameter name could be changed? something like "details size" ...or other one more intuitive? ...or it's only my bad interpretation, sorry)

Everything works fine for me.

"Vector painting" produce really nice results. I used it with 2 different smoothness values for the background and the squirrels.

Small OT
More Lena, less jokes with Leno, please. I want to unseen that image. :'(

@ Ronounours

When downloading G'MIC 1.6.5.2, I get this message for Norton Internet Security...

I'm sure it's a False Positive, but I wanted to bring this to your attention.

Thanks Wallace for the info.
I don't know what is happening, I've compiled the plug-in executable on the same virtualized machine (under Win7), and there shouldn't be any problems.
I can ensure you there is nothing wrong in the source code.
It could be nice to know *why* the warning is emitted (what is the technical reason for that).

It looks as though the warning is due to file reputation.
See the below screenshots taken of the Norton interface, regarding the gmic_gimp_win64.exe file
and the WS.Reputation.1 definition, as given by Norton's security response File Insight.

So I suppose we have to wait for the reputation of the file to increase ?
I don't think I can do more... :/

Yes, there isn't anything that can be done about Norton's "file reputation" security response.
I did have to remove the file form Norton's quarantine list, which restored the file to it's original state.
The executable works as it should, without any issues, as I expected.

David has a bad reputation? Hard to believe. lolol

As for Norton; just another program that gives users a false sense of security. :)

Just checked the file on VirusTotal, The 64bit version had a perfect bill of health. The 32bit version failed 1 and passed 56. Guess who the one failure was. There Norton showed the virus as: SAPE.Eorezo.9a

Report it as a false positive to Norton!

@ Lyle

No internet security software is going to provide anyone with 100% protection.
It's all relative to how one uses the internet and what one knows about how their computer's security can be compromised.
One would have to be naive to think that any one program can afford them with total protection these days.
A "false sense of security" often arises from a lack of knowledge.
With Norton being one of the top rated security software available.
"You still can't kill a bear with a fly-swatter"
With that said...
I've found it to be absolutely necessary to also include other such software, in addition to Norton.
In my successful attempts in safeguard my machine form having it's security compromised.
With a combination of different security software usage and safe internet browsing practices.
I have been fortunate enough to never experience any
phishing attacks, malware, viruses and worms, trojans and other security threats, as well as various types of network attacks, rootkits, rogues and adware.
I've also been fortunate to be able to help others with regaining their computer's functionality, after such an attacks.

Does VirusTotal scan for File Insight/File Reputation and did you also preform a scan using Norton?
What my Norton found in regarding to the gmic_gimp_win64.exe file,
wasn't related to any kind of virus, but it had to do with file insight.

Thank you so much David. I could get the new version of G'MIC and the new filter works great! :)

A little question.
Now all the g'mic-gimp files are in $HOME/.config/gmic (in my system Debian/Linux).
Why the file .gmic remains in $HOME?
David has not bad reputation in my system, LOL!!!
G'MIC 1.6.5.2 work very fine.
Thanks.

Yeah; the directory name has again changed. Your old directory is still there though. Just copy everything from the old directory to new directory and your GIMP G'MIC custom favorites will show up again. :)
