Hello there,

For information, I've just released a major version 1.7.0 of the G'MIC image processing framework (including the plug-in for GIMP).

You can get the full binaries here : http://gmic.eu/download.shtml
If you want the plug-in only : http://gmic.eu/gimp.shtml
and if you are interested by the Changelog : https://discuss.pixls.us/t/release-of-gmic-1-7-0

I hope everything will run smoothly for you if you do the update :)

Enjoy !

Just installed the update; works well with the presets that I've tested it on. Thanks for the update, David. :)

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

tried the new filter for smoothing; it took 3 minutes on an image 2560x1440.
Is this the normally expected time for a quite good PC (I5, with SSD primary disk, 8GBRam)?
I used defaults.
If so, it is one of those perls which can be used very rarely, when all other smoothing tools have failed.

Thanks for all your encouragements.

@dinasset : yes, this new denoising tool is particularly slow to compute. It does extremely sophisticated operations for each image pixels. On the other hand, it happens that it performs really well (way better than the other denoising algorithms we already had before).

Yeah; like this preset too, Kimba. Still hoping David will add a rotational option to it (each layer will rotate to a chosen angle; default 0 degs of course).

Below's my motivation for the varying angle (15deg increments in this case). Also, it would be nice if layers would output smallest to largest; the default's the opposite which means I have to reverse the layer order. Yes; asketh for too mucheth. lol

:)

Thank you David,

The new noise filter is excellent, as far as I can see. I tested it on small images, but with my computer, I now think I live in stone Age. :bigthup
