Hello,
brand new to this forum.

trying to install gmic for use in gimp. followed all steps and all seems good until i start gimp and get the following message related to "procedure entry point cancelIoex could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32"

screenprint = Image

i have tried both installer and zip files and adjusted the settings to include the new folder, also previous versions, also uninstalled after each attempt??

any direction would help... thanks in advance. dhugg

Obviously Gimp 2.8 but it will help if you give some details of your OS (Win7 - - Win10) and 32 bit or 64 bit.

EDIT: Thought it rang a bell ;)

hey rich2005,

i am running xp service pack 3 32-bit on this machine.

i did what you asked and it did stop the error but gmic is not listed under the filters tab?? i have doubled checked that the sub folder is selected in preferences. i did uninstall before i started. i used the unzipped folder which i moved to the plugins folder.

also when i use the main folder from the extract (screenshot attached gimpchatfile1). the error disappears but gmic is not listed?
but when i use the subfolder containing the files i get the same error as i was (cancelioex) (screenshot attached gimpchatfile2)?

just trying to work through it...

thanks for the help

I can see an immediate issue, you missed the bit about using the qt-version, that is not going to work with WinXP, you need the gtk version. The file(s) are still there in www.gmic.eu, tucked away further than that earlier post. The last of the gtk 32 bit: https://gmic.eu/files/windows/gmic_gimp ... _win32.zip

Get rid of what you have done, unpack that,
(1) put the whole gmic_gimp_gtk folder in the 2.8 profiles plug-ins folder,
(2) add the file libunistring-2.dll,
(3) set the path in Edit -> Preferences -> Folders
(4) entry is bottom of Filters menu.
remember to click the little arrow to update the filters (should be 502)

Image

I see the link to libunistring-2.dll has gone, there are others but to save the searching, the whole thing zipped

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jwkfthw2o8ia7 ... k.zip?dl=0 9 MB

If you really want to use the qt version, you need to upgrade the Windows OS.

What you actually have is the gmic_gimp_gtk folder as a sub-folder of .../plug-ins/gmic_gimp_gtk

Image

But in the Gimp plug-ins path only goes as far as .../plug-ins/gmic_gimp_gtk

Image

You could add it like that but a better way. Have a good tidy up.

Put the folder with the gmic files directly under the .../plug-ins folder to match the entry in Gimp preferences.

All those gmic files in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\gmic_gimp_gtk
