I'd like to learn how to make a splash. A tutorial would help a lot.

Any image will work as a splash screen. Most any format also. PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF. Transparency will turn to white.
Just create any image and place it in the USERFOLDER/.gimp-2.8/splashes folder . If the folder "splashes" doesn't exist just create one and throw all your images in that folder. It doesn't matter what you name them. Gimp will open a different one on each load. :)

Thanks Rod. I have an image folder that contains a startup splash screen, so I'll just toss the ones I make, in that folder. :)
