....is there a newer 2.10x version besides 2.10.38? Just curious. The main GIMP site no longer has anything 2.10x that I can see.

I know; I'm old school, but until I see Mathmap, Resyntheser, PSPI (as much as it's not useful, it still can run a few of my PS filters), User Filter, and more than a few of my Script-fus all ported to 3.X, I'm still being old school. lol

Just posing the question which I'm sure I already know the answer. :)

I believe GIMP 2.10.38 was the final stable release in the 2.10.x series.

Yes, and you know very well both, 3.2.4 and 2.10.38 can be installed on same Windows machine. Maybe you have it like that?
I use 2.10.38 also on PuppyLinux, runs like a dream on older machine.
PSPI on 3? Most likely will never happen, the whole .8bf filtering is a thing of the past.

Maybe so, Nidhog, but I'm already using too much of my 512Gs SSD already so haven't yet installed 3.X anything. lol

2.10.38 still works for me for now. Also, you already know I'm a filter guy so have to keep using my 8bfs for as long as they still work. Sadly, for whatever reason, Impressionist no longer works on my PC, but that's likely a Windows issue; is what it is. Even though G'MIC can do most if not all things that Mathmap can do, there's still certain features within Mathmap that are easier for me to drive than G'MIC for some of the renders I often do, so keep using Mathmap (often for my Droste and C/L renders for the curious). Don't believe Mathmap will ever be ported for 3.X either and that's just plain sad. Remember this issue happening when 1.X to 2.X happened but not so long after 2.X happened, nearly every plugin was ported to 2.X. Some stop working when they upped the versions over the years since, but then they got ported once again thanks to community efforts that I'm still very grateful. Sadly, not seeing this same effort happen as robustly as it did in the past. Glad that they finally got Resynthesizer to work but it took way too much squealing for even that squeaky wheel to finally get the grease. Sticking with 2.10.38 for now, but, as time goes on, I know that I'll have no choice eventually. Maybe when I upgrade my system I'll go to 3.X. Hopefully won't have to for another decade. lol

:)

Gimp-2.10.38 RC1 was the last stable release in the Gimp-2.10 series Lyle. :)
I do not have MathMap installed but PSPI works well.

Gimp-2.10.38-setup 1 i believe is the last release.

Glad that PSPI works with GIMP 3X when I do bite the bullet, Rod. :)

I'd also like to know how it works. libgimp-2 is a core component of Gimp 2 series.

AI
Why PSPI Fails in GIMP 3
API Changes: GIMP 3 changed how plug-ins communicate with the core application and handle data types, rendering old C-binary wrappers obsolete.
Alternatives
Keep GIMP 2.10 Side-by-Side: Many users maintain a legacy installation of GIMP 2.10 specifically to use PSPI and old 8bf filters.

Whoops; guess I misunderstood. Just another reason to keep using 2.10.38. Just wish they would patch a few things since I heard there's some security issues now with some dlls that the older GIMP still use. It is what it is. :)

This is why Gimp development is managed by coders rather than artists. :)

Notice that is 'hundreds' of other applications? So the toolkit that was lifted from Gimp is now controlling Gimp development.

Bureaucracy happens always when something becomes bigger than it's initial intent, Tas. It is what it is. My bet this is what happened that caused LibreOffice to separate itself from Open Office. Heard that even GIT is getting such treatment, but I digress. :)
