Although I've been using Gimp for a long time, I've only just discovered the value of painting with gradients. Together with a rough edged brush it makes light work of natural textures.

Thanks. It's only through using GPS brush presets that I discovered it. Of course you could refine those textures with a straight brush afterwards if you want to.

I wish 'use colour from gradient' was incorporated in Gimp 2.8 with all the brush dynamics .. the random colour is very restrictive .. I love the effects you achieved Erisian

It can be done lizboo. You don't need to tick a box anymore - it's automatic if you create a new dynamic with the following settings and choose your gradient.
