Greetings, All

GimpChat looks like exactly the place I want to be! I'm relatively new to Gimp, but with some graphics experience. I'm a teacher and want to inspire my students to create with Gimp, so appreciate any advice on how to quickly hook young minds on the awesome possibilities.

I'm excited to get to know you all, learn, and eventually contribute... Thanks!

Welcome PolarBear from a Gimp user in training (two years or so). I've learned much here and there are always others who will lend a helping hand and show the way. Your students will be entranced.

What subjects do you teach? Maybe you can integrate the use of computers and Gimp in your classes if computers are available in your school setting.

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

Welcome to GC polar bear. :gimp :gimp

There is a lot of maths involved with Gimp if a student wants to know the ins and outs. Good if you teach maths.

Also there are no prerequisites to use the program, as a lot of us can probably testify. Just ask them to play around with it and they will soon be creating amazing things.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, everyone!

Pat: I teach Technology, so my classroom is a computer lab. Creativity is one of the highest things I work to build in my students. Gimp is already helpful, and I know I can learn to use it much more effectively.

Sallyanne: Yes, math is one of the skills I want to build in my students. I also agree that letting them play around is the best way for most to learn. Some have already amazed me! I'm looking to learn ways to draw even more in.
