Hello from Gimpleburg. I am new to GIMP and this site but love the idea of Open Source software. I hope to learn a lot more about this program through the tutorials and ideas people share. Does anyone have a top ten (or 50) list of "must haves" or best tutorials for this program?

By the way I have noticed on several tutorials that people have their 'background' or Interface in GIMP changed from the std lite color to a darker interface similar to the newer photoshop. Is there an easy way to do this? With Migraines I am visually sensitive to bright lite and find using a darker screen on my PC helps. If I could integrate this into GIMP I know I would be able to use it more. I currently run GIMP 2.6.8 (on multiboot XP Vista32/64, Windows 7. If anyone knows could they please tell me? And where I should post this question?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day,
Joseph Gimpleheimer

PS another direction would be where I can find simple info or tutorials on the plug-ins in the plug in browser and what they are and what is possible with them. I realize I can Google but perhaps some people have favorite sites they can recommend

PPS This is my cat Schmoopy who died almost 1 year ago.. Strange how these furry friends become a part of us... She is missed daily

Hi me4bs :welcome

Good luck with learning GIMP. You're gonna love it. Especially when you see your results.

First install a dark theme on gimp to chance the color. It works fine on XP, Vista, and probably windows 7 too.

There's a tutorial section here and these are some links to tutorial sites:
