I have been using GIMP for awhile now, but just found this forum. Looks like some very useful information here!

I tried a trial of Photoshop and Lightroom, but I didn't find them to be any more useful than GIMP. Why throw money away? Also I like using open source software.

My main use of GIMP is with my art. I edit and enhance my reference photos before making my paintings and drawings. I use oils, acrylics, watercolor, colored pencil, pastels, charcoal and graphite. Basically, whatever looks fun.

When my paintings are complete, I take photos for archive and adjust the photos as needed to match the original.

Right now, my goal is to find out how to use GIMP to visualize a frame around my paintings using photos of commercial mouldings.

Looking forward to lots of conversations.
