I loaded 2.8 on my laptop with Win 7 but I can't seem to find the 2.8 user folder to load my personal brushes, gradients, patterns, etc. I looked in C:/Users/Dave (and Public) but it's not there. Where should I look?

In Windows 7 this is where my user folder is Drac.

C:\Users\Molly\.gimp-2.8

Or you could go the long way Start->computer->C:->Users->Dave->.gimp-2.8

I'm probably wrong with regards Gimp but some software creates user folders the first time you run it. Have you run 2.8 yet?

That was it Erisian. I did get an error message that Script-Fu. exe crashed.

I thought that the new interface was combined into a single panel. I opened up 2.8.1 and I have three sseparate panels. Have i still got some remnants of other versions of Gimp still lurking on my computer that's interfering, or is there someplace you go in preferences or something to select the single window view?

Draconian go to Windows>Single Window Mode and click it. :)

All your resources will get created after you load Gimp the first time edit your preferences, and shut down then restart.
If you had a gimp-2.6 resource folder in the User folder it should have been copied in it's entirety before Gimp first startup and renamed gimp-2.8.

Thanks a bunch Rod. I was hoping it was that simple. I seem to remember (vaguely) months ago in a thread that mentioned the ability to choose single window mode or not.

The first time I tried to load 2.8 I saw the duplication and subsequent problems with having 2.6 & 2.8 installed. I just saved what I wanted and deleted everything and did a clean install of 2.6 to get it back. This was on my desktop with XP. I since put the 2..1 on my laptop with Win 7, as I explained in a previous postt, and couldn't find the 2.8 use folder until Ersian slapped me and woke me up with the tiny little tidbit about opening the program. Now everything is hunky dory except the Error message regarding Script-Fu.exe crashing. I don't understand that.

I saw in another thread that Partha had included the latest G'MIC in the additional filters download. Now I want to tackle Mathmap and see if I can get it to work on my laptop where I have everything on one harddrive and hopefully won't have the problems I did on my desktop where everything was split up between two harddrives. Where's the best place to download Mathmap for Win 7/32 bit and works in 2.8.1?
