The tool is not a plugin, but is part of the Gimp core. It can only be added during the Gimp build process.

the point is see what part of the gimp core was modified to support the tool, its dependencies

Then what was modified in the code is reflected in the binary and i have the binary of both ... and luckily both version are sufficiently similar to support "transplants" (to successfully transplant all plugins i had only to fix a couple of "missing dll " errors )

i prefer work at binary level when possible and MAYBE in this case is possible

I like much Onkel version but there are at least 2 features in the Samj build i was using ,
(1 the possibility to load the program choosing a "Basic" version that will load faster and smoother, or a "Full extra version "
2 the possibility to run a fully portable GMIC ,Samj version stores GMIC definition files internally )
that i want to preserve.

Also the Onkel Hatti "gimprun.exe" that allow to use his version alarm most of antivirus , that with default setting will delete , or block it , ..and then gimp will not work
...for some reason instead the Samj utility is much more tolerated by antivirus so i will prefer use it to avoid to respond to all users alarmed by antivirus alert or deluded because "It doesn't work" (In the ,alas very frequent cases of antivirus just silently deleting "suspect"files without asking confirm )


But i believe for doing it i would need the help of Samj and/or Onkel Hatti

I updated gmic hopefully fixed a little issues with the help,
... i think should be ready to upload but a may delay a bit to make first a decent documentation
(somebody had offered to help to get the list changes, of all extra scripts plugins and addon , with the related links but i never heard of progress ...i fear i should do by myself )

Except gmic (already done ) did you noticed any included script /plugin that may be updated to a newer version ?

Not only plugin/script also preset for curve or gimpressionist, palette expecially palettes that may be used as swatches ( pantone , kuler , web safe ... )

I don't know if it's important or not for you but when I have started to list the addons with the software notified by Odin, I have noticed that several plugins and scripts were duplicate. I haven't check the brushes, patterns ...etc.

There are all the duplicate addons that I have seen in 32 bit version & 64 bit version.

I did include all the plugins with revised gui from Onkel Hatti version , i would like to include also the selector tool but , as i explained in my first message i will need some help from Hatti or from Samj to do it

I found 2.9 very interesting but not sufficiently stable yet and i am not sure how will handle older plugin script
...also 16bit edit needs much more powerful computer then 8bit , even more in this beta phase were optimization is not done yet (except some from partha )

basically i fear may be delusive on not modern and powerful PC (as example in all 32bit OS)
i didn't test much 2.9 , but i saw that my 8GB ram are barely sufficient to edit very ,very slowly raw files

I have compared the PC LAB 32 bit with the PC LAB 64 bit, and I have found several plugins / scripts missing in one but not in the other.
Maybe it is normal if some addons don't exist in 64 bit but I'm telling that is it preferable that you be aware. So I have compiled a list of missing plugins / scripts for each version based on the contents of 32 bit version and vice versa for the 64.

Weird that many GAP plugin seems missed , it is true that the 32bit version of gap was newer and it did include more effect and plugin , but i didn't expect be so many

i will check well the rest i fear that will took me some days

till now was no any change in the source code (i would not consider 2 different default in the gimprc file a change , if we do was 1 change : a slighly modified gimprc file ) all other changes were at binary level consisting in additional addon in the (correspondent of the ) user folder

From now on i should include the change done by Onkel Hatti to the plugins gui, and 2 additional libraries 1 to allow export as swf and another for support more audio files (for animation soundtrack )

For the rest i carefully avoided any change to the original source code

Ah ok this helps a lot, now clean up is much easier

i may already give the list of changes

1) general clean up ( i.e removed duplicates add on )
2) All the gimp bundled in plugins are from Onkel Hatti version so all have a more polished gui, and all the group that had a microscopic preview (gimpressionist, lighting effect, map objects , fractal trace ,etc ) instead will offer a quite large preview
3) All additional resources (script ,plugin,pattern gradient... ) revised and updated
4) Detailed list of changes from the standard version , with credit and referral links
5) Some cool new addon
6) a introductory video

I would like provide not only a zipped version but also a win installer
I could not promise anything yet, but first experiments were quite promising (thanks also to Partha that helped with a script )
The point of the installer is no much to install ; in any case install is simple as extract the folder from the zip.

The point of a installer is that may offer options to create shortcut for start the program from a desktop icon and from All Program
and more in general to easier the first contact , assist in the initial set up
