Thanks SamJ (for this as for all other excellent work on providing us a lot of updated plug-ins)!
I have a very general question for you, who are a developer/maintainer/enhancer of so many interesting/useful "compiled" plug-ins:
- would it be possible to have also for the .exe type plug-ins the possibility for the user to decide where (in the sense: menu path) to install them, for instance using a sort of plug-in wrapper where only the menu is indicated in clear text?
I know (thanks to Graechan!...) we have the possibility to modify the path by editing the pluginrc file, but because from time to time I (and some few other windows users) have the necessity to reset (by renaming/deleting) the pluginrc file, it is not easy to recreate the menu entries one would prefer to have.
Thanks a lot...

Bonjour,

@dinasset

To make your request possible, source code can be changed :
- You can do it yourself by changing line [ static char PluginGroup[] = "<Image>/Filters/Distorts/Twist"; ] , then compile the plug-in.
- We can also read an initialization file in which to find the user's choice. In this case it is necessary to add this feature to this plugin.

This plug-in has problems. I think I'll change the source code of this plug-in, I may add the second possibility.
I think I have a result in a few days.

Many thanks!
- option 1 is not for myself, I'm not capable to edit and - even worst - recompile an .exe plug-in
- option 2 is very nice, you may create an initialization file called for instance "samj_plugins.txt" which any user can edit, to modify the menu according to his(her) preference
My request has been put here, but it's not relevant to this specific plug-in, but to all those you manage; so again it would be excellent to have the above mentioned txt file to edit...
Thanks for your support

@dinasset

I'm not a "Gimp developer" and I can not answer for all plug-ins.
There are people who are in charge of ergonomics in Gimp.
I think these people can respond to your requests.
Here are some links:

Regarding the plug-in "Twist"
Some of my modifications is performed.
This is the first step of my changes : This plug-in can be called by a script-fu (this is not the case in the current version).
The second stage of my modifications to be made : I'll try to add a configuration option, probably in the file "gimprc".

Thanks SamJ.
Regarding the plug-ins in general, I didn't talk of ALL plug-ins around, but only of those you currently are working on: from time to time (very frequently, indeed, we are all happy!) you post new updated windows binaries (32, 64), so I thought you could implement for THOSE ONLY what you are kindly experimenting with "Twist", if this makes sense to you.
Regarding links to developer: I made a quick look into them, but I didn't find a topic concerning "plug-ins interface" (maybe I'm wrong); if you or somebody else reading this subject has a link where to post my request for GENERAL rules on making plug-in registration, I'll do that.
Anyhow, thanks again a lot...
