With the world fifty–fifty split, we will serve them with one switch in the Windows menu, switching between multi‐and single‐window mode. I used the mock‑up with the beautiful orange sports car from the brainstorm to demonstrate the basic idea (no real UI design implied here).

When set to single‐window mode, each document will appear in a tab. link

Looks good. I like options.

There's really good info in this blog regarding the future (or possible future) of Gimp.

I didn't think I would want a single window, but now that I see that mock-up, I think I will like it!

I certainly want the single window. I hate the three separate windows......Only thing I don't like about Gimp.....

When I first started using gimp, I hated the 3 windows. Now that I'm used to it, I don't know if I'd be able to use a single window. Guess I'll just have to see.

It looks very good.

I'm like O, I do like the multiple windows...I often resize and move them around so I can read or watch tutorials and follow them easier...less swapping screens that way. I love that there is a choice to toggle back and forth, as I think the single window might work better when not trying to fit a tut screen in among the different gimp windows.

I've been asking the developers to make it not just tabs but window in window. You know, a solid grey background but being able to view and work in more then one image. Don't think it's gonna happen. :(

I think they're making a big mistake not doing that. The answer to my question was, just use multi window interface if you want two images open at the same time, but when you're on windows it's very annoying because when you accidentally click anywhere outside of a GIMP window, GIMP will be minimized completely and you have to search in your taksbar to get all the GIMP windows back up again.

So basically they are redesigning the interface so finally everyone being turned off by the it will try GIMP because it now looks normal and then they find that the single window interface lacks a basic feature and GIMP will get bad press again.

When that happens, I click the gimp image window down in the taskbar three times. The third time it comes up with all three windows.

Doesn't work for me. I have my toolbox on utility hint but I must click on every image window seperately to get them back up. But the point is that this could have been over if the devolopers decided to make a interface like every other bitmap image editor.

I must say I like the idea of only 1 window, I think it will make working in Gimp so much easier.
