All plug-ins from GIMP 2 will not work need to be rewritten to work in GIMP 3.
I had same problems - refer to viewtopic.php?f=8&t=21595

Can't get any plugins to be recognized by Gimp 3.0
Trying to install Beautify-0.5.3_32bits-64bits-Win, Resynthesizer_v1.0-i686 on a Win 11 laptop, any ideas on how to get this done? I have added individual ****.exe plugin files to user\appdata\roming\gimp\3.0\plugins as well as in c:\program files\gimp\lib\gimp\3.0\plugins to no avail. also put them in their own folders and both locations and also added the locations through the preferences\folder\plugins folders section....... The only one that has been successfully added is the G'MIC 3.0

Haven't tried them but see these threads:

Quick fix (?) for Gimp-3.0.2
https://download.gimp.org/mirror/pub/gimp/v3.0/windows/

It was probably also supposed to fix the Plug-ins Browser bug (empty windows) - but it didn't for me.

That's weird because it works in Gimp 3RC3:

MareroQ: Hi! Revisions are when there was an issue with packaging (like the Python problem from earlier). The Plug-in Browser problem requires a code change - we have a merge request for it (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/m ... uests/2177) so it'll be included the next release once it's reviewed and merged.

@CmykStudent

Thank You very much for the clarification.
Can you please look at the problem in post #2 regarding Paint Select?

Downloaded the 3.0.2 appimage and gave it a quick spin. The only fault I have found so far is the strip with the navigation window and tool options etc. won't go any smaller. I used to have that quite narrow so that I had maximum work space.

None of my plugins work on the official GIMP 3 appimages. I'd love someone to prove me wrong but so far it seems like they don't work.

Also keep in mind Styles, Bevel and Inner Glow are not plugins they are part of GEGL official.

Anyone else notice this bug in Gimp-3 versions? The size dialog data disappears on Maximize window.

On Minimize Window Mode

I am able to enter pixels, inches whatever for type and the size can be typed and works, but I see no data (numbers or symbols), in the windows.

I'M on linux and have updated the nightly flatpak package this morning.
I wish I didn't! It was ok last night.
It takes ages to load GIMP (2 minutes!) now or react to any click I make.
I don't know why that is so, I didn't do anything but run the update like every Sunday morning.
Also when opening images that I loaded before, all their thumbnails are gone as if I've never opened them before.
Maybe I can repair it... but how?

Sheesh, I've been touching Wilber just occasionally past couple years, doing other thing in life and collecting lots of movies.
Just noticed this morning GIMP 3 has been released, such a nice surprise so I thought why not return to the forums of laid-back Gimp people.
Got a fresh install on Windows, Gmic and Resynthesizer seem to work, it's goodbye to 2.10!
I hope I can get 3 to work on Linux ASAP. Greetings to all regulars hope life is going good for you all.

You probably know this already. All depends on the version of linux. AFAIK Fedora now comes with Gimp 3. so does Debian 13

If using 'buntu 20.04 / 24.04 / and based on, such as Mint, then there are PPA's for an install: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuhandbook1/ ... ntu/gimp-3
...also a smaller appimage that comes with resynthesizer / gmic https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Gimp- ... 9#pid44369 but you are better off using a PPA.

There is an official appimage from gimp.org, works very well but based on Debian 12 so AFAIK Gimp 3 compiled plugins such as gmic are not available.

..don't know about flatpaks, I try and avoid them.

Thanks for the heads up Rich. Yes, I guess I'll be using 2.10 for some time on the Linuxes before upgrading.
Windows can work as a test platform.

Since GIMP 3.0.6-1 has been released, it's been taking too long to load. I downloaded it and it's still on the splash page, initializing documents. I'm on Windows 10.
