Where is the Window themes that fixes this problem? Can you provide a link or attach?

If we checked to see exactly what the difference was in the working theme, perhaps GIMP 2.8.14's default theme could fixed up the same way. :bigthup

Looks like the display of a character missing in a font (0x2005?). What font is used?

if you mean in default theme compared to the Acid theme I do not know where to look
