Ajay Ramanathan will try to combine all of the selection tools into three new ones to unify them where it makes sense. The new selections shall be faster and easier to use.
Carlos Zubieta works on further OpenCL-based GEGL operations. There are lots of operations that have no OpenCL support yet. He will try port GEGL ops to OpenCL based on this list:

It should allow you to deform objects in a different way than the existing IWarp – the deformation shall behave more like real world objects (better edge preserving, etc). Some will know this kind of deformation from Photoshop where it is called Puppet Warp. Marek wants it to be more intuitive and fast enough.
Simon Lui’s goal is to improve the support for Photoshop PSD files in GIMP. Currently some things are broken which are to be fixed first, then he is going to enhance the plug-in to allow importing PSD strokes, duotone, layer effects and more.
