Ok, so i was at comic con and saw some fabulous art. Some done on a tablet while others done on a cintik. The ones on the cintik did not reqire scanning in the original sketch. However, i want to start with a sketch and learn the inking part. Here is my question. i saw someone use photoshop to scan image in, then use the liquify and bloat tools to edit the proportions of the face and and body. IE, adjust the eyes and nose of some dude and what not. Trying to keep this pg. haha

So my question is, i have never noticed the bloat and liquafy tools on gimp before. Do they exist? Also, tracing the original sketch has got to be a pian, is there a correct way of doing so?

thanks

I don't believe we have an equivalent to liquify and bloat. The best adjustment tool we have of this nature (and it's far from perfect) is Iwarp. (filters>distorts) To trace, just add a white layer on top of the scanned original and reduce the opacity until the tracing is complete. Increase the opacity again when finished.

They should. When we get node editing I think they are going to produce a warp grid tool. That's what I'm looking forward to.

Node editing? like node editing in inkscape? that could be handy. Its funny, when i first started gimp, i knew nothing of how to accomplish my stuff and new all photoshop, now, 3 months later, i go use cs5 or 6 and i know can not remember where anything is. IE, the desaturate should be under the color menu like in gimp but no, its somewheres else haha. Gimp 2.8 just seems to make more sense now.

Im in a delima. i am a mechanical engineer student but love graphic design. I need a way to mix the two together. How can graphic design help me out? I feel i need to learn perspective drawing, because whats an engineer if you cant draw your ideas? haha. I have done 2 years of autocad in school and thats cool but all lines and stuff. I have done 3d but i think pencil is cooler. haha

what to do oh what to do.
