I am very new to Gimp, but i have been doing the get started tutorials, so i am learning where everthing is and what their very basic use is.

I have a logo for our business, and what i would like to do is to make the background transparent (Which i have figured out and accomplished), but i would like to make the other areas look like chrome. I know this can be done. I found a tutorial where he made Text look like chrome, so it seems i should be able to do the logo....Do i just follow the steps for the text tutorial for it? Just need a push in the right direction.

You can use a Chrome Text Tutorial (there are plenty of them) and follow that or you can use a Chrome Script (several of them too). You can click the search button just under the banner and look for Chrome or Chrome Text or Chrome Scripts and you'll find lots of good stuff.

The Bevel Reflect Logo Script produces a great Chrome Effect, but there is a little bit of a learning curve there.
