hey fellas, seems like i'm too stupid to figure it out and i'm very sure i'm doing something very wrong, if somebody could help me out?

see the image, should be self-explanatory...

i want to align the text along the circular path, like shown in the image. why does gimp create the path, but with missing words, meaning: incomplete?

i did the following:

- create a circle using the circular selection tool
- convert the selection into a path
- edited the circular path so that i get an arch
- create the text
- in the layers-box, right-click on the text-layer and say "text along path"

all works fine, but the text is incomplete. don't wonder about the arch, it also didn't work when i used a full circle, same effect.

i already tried removing the spaces between the words, but that didn't help as well.

can't get my head around it...

any help would be greatly appreciated. and, please keep in mind, i'm relatively new to gimp (or picture editing at all).

thanks a bunch!

There is a bug in some versions of gimp where the text is truncated to 19 characters but your version seems recent enough...

You can try my text-along-path script. It gives you more control on what happens, and will keep your circles really circular (the standard method distorts the letters slighly).

Hi all please excuse my ignorance, I`m pretty new to all this, but I`m learning all the time. I`m trying to text along an arch as my image, but as you see, my text is all on one end, if I make the text bigger, I lose my text outside my new project. Can someone give me some help in how to get the text along the arch??. Many thanks for any help you can give me. Have a lovely day :)

You can try Ofnuts text-along-path script (http://gimp-path-tools.sourceforge.net/tools.shtml#text-along-path) .
Then, select:
Centered / Baseline options.

1) the regular "text-along-path" function doesn't center the text, it is always left-aligned. My scrpit (see above) lets you center the text, among other things

2) some early Gimp 2.8 releases truncate the text. Fixed since 2.8.8, IIRC.

It's a Python file that needs to be put into your Gimp user plugins folder. I'm using Win7 and it's located at... C:\Users\My User Name\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins
Not sure where it is on Win8, but it may be at that same location.

Go here, http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-pa ... s/scripts/ and look down the list of Ofnuts' path tools for the text-along-path-0.4.py file download.

It's a Python file that needs to be put into your Gimp user plugins folder. I'm using Win7 and it's located at... C:\Users\My User Name\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins
Not sure where it is on Win8, but it may be at that same location.

BTW... My internet security software always tells me that downloading files with a .py extension could do harm to my computer. I know Ofnuts and I also know that downloading anything he has offered will not harm my machine.

Thanks very much for taking the time, to explain this to me, I now understand, what to do, unfortunately, when I click on the text along path 0.4py, it says download with start in 5 secs, and counts down to zero, and then takes me to an information page about the download? I`ll try and figure it out, I`m sorry to keep asking for help but I`m just finding my way with this programme and am really enjoying using it. Thanks for all your help. :)
