Hi,

I would like to create an animated brush with different images in it. I tried once but the saved .gih paints only with one image on the top layer.

You layers all look okay, did you save it as a gih?
If you follow this nice short tutorial it will show you how to save your brushes in gih.

Here is my tutorial about how to create an animated brush. You won't need to do the star but the tutorial tells about the saving of a gih brush and the various terms.
