Hello!

I am learning GIMP and I have a blog of my Happy Acres games. The pictures are colour-coded for each day.

How do I make and use layer mask to change the colour of a picture?

Here is the picture:

Sorry cant upload picture, but it has orange background.

How may I use mask to change orange colour to light blue? Thanks.

You will not be allowed to upload images directly until you've made at least 5 posts.
In the meantime, you can use attachments: in the "Quick Reply" box, press "Full Editor", then immediately below the "Post a reply" box you will find "Upload attachment".

I would try to select the orange by using the magic wand and click on the border, then change the color of the selection by using colors>map>color exchange

1. Use color selection to select your orange color
2. create a new layer with foreground color
3. add layer mask to your newly created layer with option selection
4. fill your newly created layer with your desired color

I started exploring layers and layer masks last night! They are amazing! I love experimenting with the Layer modes, too. Great way to come up with new ideas!

A layer mask experiment. I changed the interior colour to a pastel blue. Playing with the layer blend modes I found out that the Colour mode will preserve a slight gradient whilst the the Normal mode will not. Some of the modes have unexpected and strange results.
