Hello!

Can someone recomment tutorials / help / advice / video about how to use Paths tool and how to use Subtract from Selection? I tried to use both to create a mask for a picture, but it didn't look good. I am a beginner level with GIMP.

If you Ctrl+Shift+RightClick on a path point it its removed and it will also remove a segment.

If you Shift+V while a path is active it will create a selection.

If you Alt+RightClick a path in the Dockable Dialog it will make a selection. If you Alt+Ctrl+RightClick another of the paths in the Dockable dialog it will subtract from the current selection. If you Alt+Shift+RightClick another of the paths in the Dockable dialog it will add to the current selection.

Selections made out of paths are always anti-aliased. To harden the edges you can go into quick mask mode and use threshold on it.
