Panoramas without Pandora?

Operating System: Linux
OS Version: Linux Mint 18
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

Hi All,

How easy is it to simply drag in a photo, and then drag in a second, and match up the edges to make panorama, and then add a third pic to extend the panorama?

You would need to open the images As Layers and then adjust the Layer Boundary Size.
Leaving enough room within the canvas,
to move the images around to match them together.

There is a Stitch Panorama plug-in,
but I haven't used it myself yet.
So I can't say how well it works.

There is this video tutorial on the use of Pandora,
but it's an old video form 2010,
so I'm not sure if this script,
or the plug-in mentioned above will function with the latest version of Gimp.

The problem is that all lenses introduce some distortion and therefore to have a good match in the overlap region the images have to be distorted to fit each other.
There is an excellent program for panoramas - Hugin. However, I find it a bit complex to use, but as you are a Linux user there is a KDE front end which uses Hugin but makes the process very simple. You can even use RAW images straight from the camera, sit back and after a few minutes it outputs a perfect panorama!

Sorry, for the late reply, but thanks all. Hugin worked really well. Had a couple of different tries, fiddled with the settings very slightly. Happy with the results :-)
