Gimp keyboard shortcuts?

GIMP Version: 2.10.8
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

Normally I use Photoshop (I'm sorry), but how to add keyboard shortcuts (=small icons) for Gimp, (Hue, Curves, Exposure etc.) like in Photoshop, and the icons are placed on the Layers tab? It would then be easy to use the controls and you would not need to look for them in Colors> Saturation etc ..

See Edit>Keyboard shortcuts. There are some tools that are not in the Tools palette by default (they can be added with Edit>Preference Tool options). But in 2.10 only the historic tools can go there, there is no provision to add filters there.

Edit->Preferences->Interface->Configure keyboard shortcuts.
Hue-Saturation (for example) is under Filters.
Alternatively you can enable "use dynamic keyboard shortcuts" and change them without having to go to preferences.
After you have set the shortcut, click "Save keyboard shortcuts now"

I have "Save keyboard Shortcuts on exit" off, to prevent them changing accidentally between sessions.
You can't create a dockable tab for a single filter, but using a keyboard shortcut is anyway faster right?

Tabs not possible AFAIK (without some re-coding by the developers)

1. As Ofnuts mentioned, three tools not visible by default but maybe worth enabling in the toolbox if used a lot. The Levels tool and the Curves tool ( the other is Threshold - up to you)

2. A possibility, a legacy from an older time, using a tear-off menu. A right click on the canvas brings up the same as the menu bar, choose one, tear it off. Not much use in single window mode since it disappears under the main window. Easy to fix on top in linux, Windows users need a little utility such as desk-pins

Thanks for tip. Gimp's tear-off menu is closest to what reminds me of the more familiar PS. If still this new window would stay on the desktop and not close under it (for Windows 10 user), it would be almost perfect...(?) And does this tear-off menu get some settings in mind that you don't have to download it every time?

Unfortunately AFAIK, you will have to set up the tear-off for each Gimp session. The tear-off goes back to Gimp 2.6 (& earlier) and multi-window mode. Multi-Window mode is still there: Windows menu -> Single Window Mode toggles.

Gimp has a steep learning curve, PS also has a steep un-learning curve.
