Don't if it happens when my computer auto updates or not. I try to disallow the updates but they trick their way in when I shut down.
I have lost my GMIC in version 3 and am trying to get it back. Nik Collection also went missing. Have downloaded and tried the exe and the zip file seperately of course. I still do not have it. Thought it may have been something that just happened to my 2.10 program but it happened to both - I didn'tnotice it while the program session was open but after closing it and starting up again.

Just tried again. Still no joy.

You have Gimp 2.10.38 revision 1 - needed for the latest gimp_gmic_qt 3.6.1



Small consolation, but the installer(s) work, make the correct folder in the User profile. Just check during the installation that the path to the plugins folder is correct. A two minute example (for those wondering). https://i.imgur.com/A9JeV4G.mp4

I have come across a user with similar problem but caused by migrating the old Gimp profile to a new installation. It might pay to clear both Gimp 2.10 and Gimp 3.0 user plugins folders and start adding plugins one at a time.
Remember for a Gimp 3.0 plugin it goes in a folder with the same name (minus extension) as the plugin.

I always use the zip file. Just delete the gmic qt folder in plugins and replace it with the gmic qt folder in the zip. Restart Gimp.
Gimp-3.0 or Gimp -2.10 versions.

For some reason the installer for either version for windows just doesn't work for me ever.

I tried the zip file as well yesterday. I think you told me this once before so I did it and I got it. But all of a sudden both of them went missing vs 3 and 2.10 - still in my programs but not visible to gimp. I have deleted them and tried to reinstall. I will try again today.

Tried both (installer and zip file) AGAIN! Still nothing in 2.10 or 3! I even tried making another folder before installing and it made it's own which I then changed in browse. Don't want to have to go through taking all plugins out and adding them one at a time so might try for a download of gimp that has GMIC in it. If that doesn't succeed, might be telling me to give it up.

Finally got GMIC, although an earlier one it will probably do me. Downloaded Samj's latest gimp/gmic portable clang. Deleted everything else from my computer except my files fonts/gradient/patterns etc. Will have to work out later how to transfer them over.

That's really odd that you had to go through all that Sallyanne.
You can find the pluginrc and gimprc files here
C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10
Remove them to your desktop and restart Gimp. This usually fixes most plugin problems.

Restart Gimp and both these files are rewritten for you.

I found them there Rod, gimp wasn't seeing them though. Checked in gimp's preferences folders and they were not there. I have deleted 2.10 now and only have 3.0.4
