Hi everyone, I want to let you know about an objective problem that Gimp3 has on the Linux platform. I don't know if it's the same on Windows and Mac, but it's an absurd problem that I don't understand how it went unnoticed by the programmers. Let me explain: we all know that Gimp doesn't open raw files, but has to rely on DarkTable or RwTherapee, and up until version 3.0, if you installed one of the two converters, it was automatically added to the Gimp plug-ins. Now, since 3.0, this no longer happens. I repeat, I'm talking about the Linux version! If you go to Modica/Preferences/Imports Exports, the form for entering the converter path is not editable, and the incomprehensible string that is there does not mention DarkTable or RawTherapee. I am attaching a screenshot to help you understand better. Unfortunately, at present, if you want to edit a raw photo, you must first open DarkTable, do the work, export it to a folder, and then reopen it with Gimp. If you are already familiar with this problem, perhaps you could help me, otherwise it would be advisable to contact the Gimp development section and report the problem. Thank you for your attention, I hope to hear from you soon.

This a Mint 21 VM. I use this for compiling the gmic plugin so still on Gimp 3.0.4 but 3.0.6 probably the same.

Both Gimp and Darktable (DT) are from ubuntu PPA's and the DT shows up in Gimp preferences. Click on it to make active.

When it does not work the cause is
Either / Or Gimp or DT are flatpak / Appimage / Snap versions.
Use to be in the past, some versions of DT and the code was not compatible with the Gimp RAW loader plugin.
As with all linux, depends on versions both program and OS.

I wonder if because RawTherapee is a stand alone program, Shellout could be used? There are already a few Shellout python modules written for calling Filter Forge, Inkscape, and even Gimp-2.10 thru Gimp-3.0.

MareoQ may be able to help with that. :)

Just a quick fix until the plugin is updated.
