 Post subject: Insanely stupid selection behavior [Solved]

GIMP Version: 2.10.30
Operating System: Linux
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level



I don't know what happened, maybe an Update? In my GIMP I can not select anything anymore the old way, click and draw a rectangle for selection from the point I clicked.
Instead, the rectangle selection tool always takes the mouse click as the center for the selection.

"Uncheck the "Expand from center" option"
I don't see such an option in my tool options.

Edit the config file:
(expand-from-center no)

No effect. How can I get rid of this insanely stupid behavior?

To make it worse, GIMP seems to change my config file always back to standard.

I managed to solve the problem. What a stupid idea to make this option default.

Location: Native to NYC living in Arizona, Gimp 2.8 - 3.0, Win 11 PC.
No idea why that’s the default,
seems like someone at GIMP HQ hates rectangles.
