Hi All,
Sorry I've been away so long.

It's been ages since I have used Gimp (or anything on the computer) and when I went to use it, my hard drive was toast. I put in a new hard drive and installed Gimp 2.8.2 (on Windows 7 PC). It doesn't matter what function of Gimp I try to use, but when I select an option (levels for example) I can adjust a slider, click a check box, click ok or click cancel, but no combination of things. If I move the pointer off of the box/screen I was adjusting, and then come back, I can click or adjust one thing. Then I have to move the mouse off the box before I can make the next adjustment. It's really odd.

Now to find all of my scripts and plugins.

Oh yeah. Does anyone have any of my old script-fu scripts. If I can remember how to find them online I will re-download them.

Thank you so much! I went into the preferences and activated "mouse buttons" and it looks like the problem may have resolved itself. Now I will work on getting the image window to be above the tool boxes!

I spoke too early on the strange behavior of the mouse buttons. It's still happening.
I'm sure if I look around in the forum I will find the answer to the toolboxes covering the working image. I found it on another version of Gimp, so I'll have to figure it out again.

I fixed the problem of the tool boxes covering the image window by going into Preferences>Window Management and setting Hint for docks and toolbox: to Normal Window.

Glad to see you back here again. Every version of Gimp I have used has had some sort of odd things in it, I just figure it's something I have to cope with. I use the single window mode to keep the tool boxes at bay, but some of the filter pop ups stay as top window, even if I go into another tab. This makes it hard to try and follow tutorials...I have to scoot the filter window over out of the way to read or watch the tutorial.

I'm afraid that if I used single window mode, Gimp would be unusable because I wouldn't be able to move the mouse to a neighboring window.

Cool to see you post again PM; GIMP 2.8.4 just got released a few days ago by the way; might want to see if that version resolves some of your particular issues.

It's good to be back. I've missed being here. Haven't gotten myself back in gear yet, but I'm working on it. Still just trying to figure out what programs I had, but no longer have. Same with scripts, plugins, fonts, etc.

Still haven't tried Ver 2.8.4 but think I may need to. Also trying to assign a default folder for images. There must be a way, but just haven't found it yet

Now running Gimp 2.8.4 but I am still seeing the same issue with the mouse functions. I am going to play with some of the driver files. I am also still trying to assign a default folder for images. Gimp has no option for it and Windows isn't giving me an option either. I am debugging some of the configuration files in the hopes of finding a way.

I'd like to know that one too, PhotoMaster. I know you can assign favorites, but Gimp seems to default to recently used in Windows. Having a default option in Folder preferences would be the ticket, maybe in 3.0?

I just discovered that Gimp no longer has the "Filter all Layers" filter! What gives?? I have used it in some of my tutorials (eg. step 9 in this tutorial viewtopic.php?f=10&t=430) and wanted to use it for a new idea I am trying. I will sorely miss this option!!

I just figured out that the installation of GAP didn't work. I had to manually load it (copying files to the proper directories) and I now have GAP available, including the Filter all layers option.

Sadly the Filter all Layers option doesn't work. It works on the first layer, then asks you to continue. I click on yes and it doesn't do anything. No errors, but no actions either.
