I just had my first total crash. GIMP has stopped working, and so forth. I lost maybe 45 minutes of work - and yeah, I'm horrible when it comes to saving regularly. This is gonna blow your minds, but I've often left stuff open *over night* and continued working on it in the morning. I'm just an awful, awful person.

So! I'm just wondering if GIMP is prone to crashes, or if it's generally pretty stable. A bit of an odd question, perhaps, but I think I need to take some sort of measures to ensure that I save often if it's a looming risk.

2.6 is rock-solid. 2.8 still has some issues, you aren't the first one reporting a crash.

When I work on something important, I do saves, and I save to a different file each time. There is nothing worse than discovering that your latest backup obliterated a very good file with something unusable.

Ah, I see. I'll just have to try to remember then. It seems a little touchy when working with a bunch of text/image layers like I am right now.



No, I'm sorry about the confusion, but I just missed changing that field when creating the topic. My problems were always with 2.8.4, the latest version.

I'm just gonna have to be a little more cautious.
