What is a good size to save a pattern for later resizing using RobA pattern scale script
I started with a 2000x2000, before saving it as a pattern, what size should i scale it to where it will still look good small or large

started with this txt and ended up making a pattern from it..(scaled down for GC)

Patterns are only as good when you scale them as the build-in interpolation allows you. Lanczos by far is the best in GIMP but has it's limitations.
Scale factor should stay within 25-300%. Now do the math. The main thing is to make patterns tilable to avoid seams.
You are proficient enough in Inkscape, alc. I use Inkscape or AI for the task. There are some good tuts on that. You can always scale it up/down in vector editor without losing quality, import as bitmap and use patterns from GIMP clipboard.

i wouldnt make a 2000x2000 pic into a pattern, takes up way too much space
and Gimp has to load it with each start !

why not use it as a texture and open as layer ?

may i point out that you have a slight space-time-continuum-problem in your picture ?

Wasn't going to leave it at 2000x2000, was thinking around 200x200, was just wondering what size to scale it to before saving as pattern

as far as i know 512x512 is the biggest Gimp can show in the preview
so maybe thats a good compromise ?

Scaling up is always more lossy then scaling down ,
500x500 may be a good compromise rarely you will need bigger pattern and you may always scale down

Anyway i will save also the pattern at large (original) size size in a back up folder, also because as suggested esper you may use large patterns as "effect layers " (and in that case they should be large as the image to edit )
