So I just upgraded to a large HP 120 Printer that has the capability of printing large 24 inch wide banners from a roll. I have created my image at 24 inch by 48 inch. When I go to print it will not format this image to print large along the roll. No matter if I do landscape or portrait it wants to format it small where the longest part is only the 24 inches.. I have tried everything I know. Is this a printer issue?? Or does gimp just not have the capability of handling this?

I wouldn't use Gimp for banner printing such as this, I would check the extra software that came with your HP printer. Another option is to save from Gimp as a PDF and use the specialty print options in Adobe Reader.

I had a similar outcome with a regular A4 printer, a canon ip4500 and using WinXP
Trying to print a panorama, did not matter what I set the "user" defined size at, the print 'length' was truncated at about 40 cm.

This did not happen with Gimp and linux using gutenprint. I have some 20 x 60 cm long prints.

So I guess that there is a print buffer somewhere that runs out. In windows I did try setting 'direct printing', made no difference. Still do not know if it is M$ or the Canon Windows printer driver to blame.
