So few days ago I downloaded the new version of Gimp. When I was loading some fonts and new brushes, Gimp just got slow and closed. Then when I tried opening it, it doesn't load and makes my computer slow... Can someone help me with this problem please?

Fonts and brushes and patterns are the biggest power drain on Gimp.
Try removing some or all of the brushes you added to the user/.gimp-2.8/brushes folder, and see if gimp loads again.If it does try and use GURM for loading brushes you need after loading Gimp.GURM can be found here.

If you have fonts in the user/.gimp-2.8/fonts folder remove them to C:/windows/fonts folder instead.

Thank you so much! I should have thought of that before... But I don't understand the GURM stuff you posted...

GURM is just a plugin to keep your resources OUT of the user folder so Gimp loads faster.

GURM allows you to load brushes, patterns, scripts, gradients...basically everything except plugins AFTER you load Gimp.It saves LOADS of time loading Gimp, thank you Rob A.

Just be sure and follow the install instructions carefully and you should be ok.

GURM is kind of hard for GIMP newcomers to set up though.

Actually there is probably a tutorial here or online somewhere with detailed install instructions.
I believe you only need to edit one file now.

This link might help. When I was using windows vista the folk over at Gimp Forums gave me a lot of help to set GURM up. There's also a thread there about setting it up for use with Linux.
