Even if I put all my RGB on 255 or take the white color from the blue square - I always seem to end up with a pink background. Transparent is the same. Help.

if it happens when you "paint" it may depend from the dynamics settings.
Does it occur also when you create a "new" image and you have FG/BG Black/White and you select from the advanced option where to take color from?

Can you uploaded the xfc file?
Maybe we can spot something within the xcf that's not quite right.
Also, have you tried to adjust the color of the screen/monitor or display?

This is the most recent one I have had this problem with.

Let me see what happens with the black & white background

Wondering if it happens when I 'flatten images'

There shouldn't be any kind of color change when you flatten an image.
I checked out both xcf file and there seems to be nothing out of the ordinary.
Have you tried to reset Preferences>Color Management and see if that helps?

My white in the black and white - [foreground & background] was not a proper white. If when I open new image with advanced - 'white background' and not the background colour it should be ok [that white is a perfect white]
Least I know how to overcome it now.

Wallace what should I look for in colour management? It is opening images in RGB

Made sure new image opens with 'white background'. (I don't always use white)

Don't know what happened. I have only had problem this year when I 'colour to alpha' red to transparent...thought that may have caused it originally.

That's the default setting, so nothing seems to have been changed there.

Have you tried clicking on the background color in the two color squares and then clicking the reset button? Try typing ffffff in the HTML notation window in background color.

I get f4f0e8 (yellow) when I click on the background color in the xcf image.
