I'm not having any luck in single-layer or multiple-layer mode with Ofnut's interleave-layers plug-in. I've tried every scenario I can think of except probably the right one.
Single-layer mode does nothing, multiple-layer mode only duplicates source to a new image. Both Layer and Opacity options have no effect.
Can someone test it and pass along any sucessful steps.

I tried the plugin out and have experienced the same issues.

Typically a pair of animations. If .gif then RGB mode is required.

Focus on one image, the other as the source

gives a new image as this

The plugin requires:

1) The two images to be the same size
2) For "Stack over stack", to have the same number of visible layers in both

Is this the case? Did you check for error messages?

I found the error of my ways. My test layers contained a Text layer whose boundaries were not Image size.
So after a Text layer is positioned use, Layer → Layer to Image Size.
