Hello!
I need to create an avatar from a selfie. Is there a video or tutorial showing how to do this?
Thanks

If you're referring to an avatar to use here on Gimp Chat.
It's a small image,
the maximum dimensions are:
150 x 150 pixels,
and a file size: 488.28 KiB.

Good evening.
My intention is not to create an avatar for the forum, but rather a project a friend asked me to do. The avatar should be around 1080 x 1080 and be based on a photo of a person.

You could probably just cartoonize the photo. Gimp has a filter for that.

You can 'open as layers' any photo. Then crop it with the rectangle select tool, then crop to image. Then image resize to the size you need, and export the file.

To give you some ideas as an example.
Here's a screenshot of a few avatars I've made for myself.
