I had being trying to change the water colour on the Water reflection map I did it before but can't remember how I did it. I had tried to follow a tutorial on youtube using the add mask layer but still comes out black and white. Where am I going wrong

Can anybody help on this please I'll be very greatfull.

Lorri you have to set the image mode to RGB then colors/colorize.
Be sure and select your layer image not the mask before doing this.

Lorri, are you talking about mahvin's displacement water reflection tutorial? You would be able to change the color of it the way he did.

For starters (as Rod points out), your image mode is greyscale, trying changing the image to RGB mode = Image/Mode/RGB.

In the link that O provides, remember that you have to use a selection when having the bottom half of the image being the water scene.


You see the "New Layer" layer? It has a mask (border in black) and the gradient application (border in white). Those two borders can be selected, so when you decide to color the bottom half of a water scene (following the tutorial link that O posted) you would select the white border area of the layer mask, with the bottom half of the image selected, and then use color gradients (foreground/background) of light and dark. I strongly recommend that over using colorize, which just makes the color one flat color. Using gradients gives the colors depth, like we actually see with our own eyes.

O I tried to following the tutorial but it was going too fast, god knows how many times i tried to follow it, I gave up in the end.

Unless I am misunderstanding, you meant a video? Was it my video? You can pause a video, and drag the timeline back to repeat something, if you miss it. But the text tutorial is verbatim what the video is (that's posted on my blog).
