prerequisites: read all last posts on topic "Multi-Fill Script Help" to understand where tests are needed.
I summarise:
- having either the last version 1.7 of the script BEFORE the modifications applied today by RobA or the really last one WITH the modifications
(better if you keep both, obviously renaming one of the two if you want to make comparative tests)
from now on I will call the first one version 1.7Before and the second one 1.7After
- better to use the Pursuit Curve script as a common start-up
- using default parameters run Pursuit Curve
- with the image having only black lines and transparent area, run MultiFill
- with version 1.7Before I (and someone else) go into an endless loop (confirmed by RobA, not due as I supposed to the transparent areas but to the fact that there was no coloured area at all)
- with version 1.7After I get a black image (RobA improved the script to avoid endless loop)
- now on the Pursuit draw fill some of the areas with white
- run again either versions of Multi-Fill
- I get strange coloured areas (the colours applied on the white areas "expand" over those left transparent (RobA can't reproduce this result)
- now fill all the areas of the Pursuit draw with white (so you have a black draw on a white paper)
- run either versions of Multi-Fill using fill-type Gradient (one option or the other is irrelevant)
- I get a series of Gimp error messages "Unable to run GimpPdbProgress callback" , RobA can't reproduce this error message
- and: with version 1.7Before I get anyhow a very nice output with a lot of different gradients,
- with v ersion 1.7After I get only black&white gradients (RobA can't reproduce this different behaviour in the last version)

PLEASE
perform tests and place results together with the specification of your environment

(with Gradient fill options)

If I run MultiFill after samj Pursuit Curve, error message now,
GIMP Error wrote:
MultiFill Warning
Endless loop detected - flatting failed. Please uncheck 'Flatten After' and try again.
Rerun, unchecking 'Flatten After' result in no error, no loop & a black background.

If I run dinasset test image the result is the same as dinasset's image. Error 3 times,
GIMP Error wrote:
Unable to run GimpPdbProgress callback. The corresponding plug-in may have crashed.

I think I found the reason for at least one enigma:
the version on which you applied the modifications to solve the problem of endless loop is not the one modified by Graechan at the end of March which deals exactly with fill type = Gradient .
IMO, this is (at least one of) the reason(s) why I'm getting only B&W gradients, instead of nicely coloured gradients, with your newly modified version, stored on the Gimp Registry.
Thus, if you believe that the modifications introduced by Graechan are worth of becoming official, please introduce them.
