Using paintbrush with Wavelet Decompose

GIMP Version: 2.8.4
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

Hello all

Studied two tutorials and then began working with Wavelet Decompose only yesterday.
When I get ready to paint the paintbrush doesn't "load".
What am I missing?

Thanks for any help.

Details: Working on head shot photos - my subject has extremely fair skin, which tends to look blotchy/mottled especially on the forehead. Is this too subtle for Wavelet? However, the paintbrush wouldn't work on a prominent mole either.

I can not duplicate that error in Gimp-2.8.4. Wavelet decompose and brush work fine for me.
Can you give more information, perhaps an image/screenshot example?

Also you can type in wavelet in the search and it comes up with some threads on wavelet you could try. This is one of them but there are 3 or 4 more.

I can not duplicate that error in Gimp-2.8.2. Wavelet decompose and brush work fine for me.

Note that you may not even need to use the brush.
There is a technique you just use Blur (Gaussian Blur), and another in which you use the Clone Tool.
Actually all these techniques can even be used in the same image, it is the taste of each.

But is vague because your brush is not loading
