BIMP is a very good batch application, if you need a batch application.

This little video from some time ago, I had deleted it, being Gimp 2.6, but it does show the basics and is brief. Can't remember who I made it for.

The latest version has many improvements, I think this shows about ver 0.5
The video will go again next time I have a clean-up

As Debik post that is the place:
BIMP ver 1.8
here: http://registry.gimp.org/node/26259 which takes you to

The zip archive contains source for compiling but for windows users there is a folder bin which has a sub-folder win32 containing the plug-in

Two files to go in your .\gimp-2.8\plug-ins folder bimp.exe and pcre3.dll
also a language folder bimp-locale for some languages other than English.

I remember trying this some time ago for someone and the plugin was working in a 64bit Win7 machine.
