You might want to consider Wordpress. It's FOSS and infinitely customizable/scalable, with 1000s of user created plug-ins and themes to do just about anything you need.

Here are a couple to consider.

I created a more geometric cow head (with or without grass) and went with an OCR font to indicate old school techi-ness:

Yeah, saulgoode. I put my experience at Intermediate Level. Guess I'd better back down to No GIMP experience.

Just a word about Wordpress. Matt Mullenweg is one awesome dude. And he has some awesome developers on his team (Andrew Nacin, for starters). This group is hands down, one of the best I have ever had the experience of speaking with, and they are there for you if you ever have problems using Wordpress. Big or small, they go out of their way to help you fix or solve any Wordpress related problems.
