How to add MyPaint Brushes to Gimp?

So the portable Gimp-2.8.5 Onkel and Hatti, has the mypaint brushes, but without python module support, is this correct?

Exactly. Well the 64 bit version seems to work but the version for Gimp Painter 32 bit has a faulty pythonw.exe file.

I'm using the 32bit gimp 2.8.3 version of gimp painter from Onkel Hatti and it worked with python support out of the box

This thread is getting confusing to me. The original question was, "How to add MyPaint Brushes to Gimp"? Now we are talking about Gimp Painter.
My question is: Does Gimp Painter and MyPaint use the same brushes? I just use MyPaint, not Gimp Painter.

@ molly In the OP Wallace asked how to add MyPaint brush engine to gimp.
Brushes between the two cannot be shared because they work with GIMP and MyPaint own brush engines.
To have brushes from the latter in GIMP one has to port MP brush engine to GIMP.
It was done in GIMP Painter (gimp fork).
So yes, GIMP Painter does have MyPaint brushes in it. Like, all of them

Interesting. I prefer to use MyPaint the way it was intended though - as a separate program using GIMP for manipulation and adjustment features. The MyPaint interface is so beautifully spartan if you are interested in painting!

The MyPaint brush engine seems highly sought after though. It's in Krita-GIT already by default (although it crashes badly for me).

Wallace, and Molly i apologize for taking this post off topic. I assumed Wallace was looking for a Gimp with MyPaint brushes.This is what Gimp Painter is. Adding G'MIC, Python, and MathMap was just something i wanted and decided to share with everyone else who wanted those addons.

Wallace i hope you enjoy the program whichever way you choose to go , either with the already built Gimp-Painter or your own port. I hope you will share your own port though if you do decide to take that big step into compiling Gimp and C plugins. It is very rewarding and gives you a big sense of accomplishment. Especially when you are helping others. I love that part.

Hacking the Gimp Core? Well that's just majestic.

I'm going to try and port the mypaint brush engine with my gimp 2.6.11 as a plugin. I've been working on it for a few days now, but always seem to run into issues with having the time to devote to this project.
It's slow going, I won't know if it'll work until it's finished and installed. Also, being that I'm novice a at this, may prove to be my demise when it comes to coding.
