You could also reflect the floor into the glass for a better effect.

Yes, the floor would also make it look more realistic. Do you think window panes would be too much? I'm thinking it may look pretty windowish as it is, without panes! =0)

That looks great! Add some blue and make the opacity low, and that will be a winner.

I recommend to start emulating the joint between glass and glass:


Joints do not necessarily mean physical joints. But the effect produced by the light at the edge on end of each glass.
You can do it on a new transparent layer drawing with pencil vertical fine lines corresponding to the joints, and then applying in this layer a glass filter like this:

or the others filters already mentioned here. You do not need the shadow layer generated by these filters.

You could achieve a credible reflection manually by cutting the firs girl and mirror and then blurs. Then you could draw something approximating to the other girls and apply much blur and handling layer transparency.

No, what I'm saying is there is a distinction between a so called "glass" layer and a colored layer with low opacity. The effect ends up being pretty much the same but the difference is that the "glass" layer is translucent at 100% opacity, because the transparency is actually part of the layer/image.

Although not a truly accurate reflection, I think the effect Rod demonstrated looks pretty good and might be acceptable for your needs.

It does exactly the same same thing as the Glass Effect Text thread that I split your original post from. YAFU probably didn't realize that. You can actually get a much more advanced glass effect from the LT Script, which will produce colored, textured, beveled and gradient glass effects.

Copy de scm file to your GIMP "scripts" folder and then open GIMP. The filter is under Filters > Kward1979uk > Glass
But remember that here have mentioned other filters that you can also use, as had mentioned by GnuTux

Nice manip so far and all the advice has been really good and informative but I did notice if you follow the contour of the skirting board then the glass pane actually turns the corner, not sure if this is intentional or not but to me the corner of the two walls should be somewhere round the middle of the third girls leg from the front.

@Akros, the image you showed me is probably the original. I love the color in the one you posted. A friend of mine ordered the manipulation, and provided the photo. The photo I was given looked like the photo below. The image you posted may be better in your eyes, but personally, though the color is warmer, I like the photo my friend sent me better.
I feel bad for the girls dancing with her, looking through the photos on the blog, I don't think she has ever smiled!

By the way, Akros how did you find the original photo?
