How can I get some icy-looking things>

Oh I know, I just wondered if one was more foolproof than the other, that's all - sort of looking for a reason whythis isn't working.

Only thing I can think of at the mo is if I have the correct version of GMIC for this 64bit, and I'm pretty sure, if not certain, that I have. Akky has the 64bit too. Only other difference I can see between my GMIC and Akky's is that her appears to be 8.5mb in size, while mine is 8mb.

I need to hit the hay now, so I thank you all for today's help, and I'll be back in eight hours or so for another go.

no I said to right click on the finder not the gmic file...read it again sweety...hilight gmic and point the cursor to your finder and right click on finder then go to folder finder/go to folder

God I had to go check that to see what I had written but sure I have FINDER there...FINDER is the blue mac face in your dock! RIGHT CLICK ON THAT.

I have done it all over and over and over and over. The only exception is the method by which you point the plug-ins in preferences to the GMIC file in Finder. I can 'right click', the Finder, as above screenshot, but there's no revealing a path to the GMIC, and, as I say, the path is in the Preferences anyway. See this screenshot for that:

So, since you can manually add the path in the edit - preferences - folder - plug-ins, have you tried to see if GMIC is installed now?

Which gmic download did you get for your OS? What is your OS version anyway? I'm at a loss here, and I don't use a Mac. In theory, the process is just a matter of installing a plug-in into a folder, and pointing GIMP to it in preferences.

Why is it showing Desktop? This should be Users. I don't see Users on your screenshot.

I got the leopard gmic. My OS os Mac OSX 10.5.8, 64bit Intel processor.

In pic above, Desktop just happens to be highlighted in red, that's all. It's not active in this picture. The ones that matter are the greyed ones and the green one which is Gimp - the final folder that contains GMIC.

Are you using the 32 or 64 bit GMIC?

Did you ever download the new GIMP? I see the folders are now showing.

On this screenshot you havent got the path for GMIC in there

Akky, these screenshots show you where I'm at right now.

The smaller one is the properties of the plug-in, gmic-gimp, and shows you the path. I can't actually copy and paste that, as it happens, so I navigate to it from the Gimp/Edit/Preferences part.
