Most image stitching tools blend the images together to form a smooth continuous image. I don't want that. I tried Stitch Panorama but I could figure out a way to keep the individual images unmodified.

I have 200 images (20 rows, 10 columns) that I need to connect to form one big image. I really don't want to manually drag each individual image into place on a huge canvas. Is there a way to quickly connect the images using GIMP?

Try CSS WebSprites. Forget about the CSS script just use the horizontal and vertical scripts.

Hmmm. if the images don't align perfectly, then a software that won't modify them won't be able to tell which "connection" to give priority to. And if the images align perfectly, a panorama software won't have to modify them to connect them, given the right options ("scanner stitching" or some such).

Thanks, I really appreciate your help! I used the CSS scripts. I loaded one row of images and formed them into a horizontal bar. I exported this, then repeated this process for the remaining 9 rows. I don't have time right now, but I should be able to load the ten rows and then use the vertical script to line those up.


I was unaware of the "scanner stitching" option. Do you know which software has this?

I've used canon's photo stitcher with great results.

Most have, as fas a I know. Also look for an option where there is no rotation of the camera (because that's why the panorama software distorts the image, it has to undo the "perspective projection" implied by the rotation).

You just want to tile the images? Try this script http://www.silent9.com/incoming/scripts/tile-layers.scm

Open all the images as layers then run the script.
