Is it just me or do others find the white balls (nodes) in the pen tool too large?
Especially for fine detail they just get in the way - I can't see what I'm doing (where the line is underneath).

I don't know if there is a way to make the nodes smaller.

I did change your subject line so that others would know that you are asking about the Paths tool.

No, these is no such way. Following a recent discussion in the developer's list, I would think there was an educated decision to make them bigger to be easier to grab(*). If you want accuracy you can always zoom in (they remain at 13 physical pixels, so at 256x zoom they end up being about 0.05 pixel big).

(*) they have an absolute size in pixels, and the pixel density of modern screens is getting higher, making them look smaller.

When you zoom in this is handy, View → Navigation Window.
The cross icon (Navigation Control) in the lower right corner of the image window is similar.

Ok just thought I would ask, it's a pity they are not seethrough. In photoshp they are less than half the size and are a clear box shape. Even if I zoom in twice as much as in photoshp they still kind of get in the way, mainly because they are opaque but also the size. Maybe it's just myself that would prefer them smaller.
@origonian, yes your title is nicer :)

Actually they are not completely opaque, so may be you can file a bug/change request to make them a bot more transparent:

I agree, a pita when you get a cluster together and they all overlap but

If you zoom in to pixel level and select a node maybe for editing in some way, it does lose the 'solid' state and become a circle. That should get positioning as accurate as you need.

I agree rich2005 I am just going to have to get used to really zooming in and out more.
I do prefer the path tool in Gimp compared to Photoshop, it seems much easier to use but the giant ping pong balls will take some getting used too:)
