GIMP Version: 2.8.10
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: vista
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

List any ERROR messages you received:
GNU Image manipulation Program has stopped working.

Basically went to open my GIMP today and was surprised to find an error message. "GNU Image manipulation Program has stopped working.". I've never had any problems before today with GIMP. I'm not to great with computers but If anyone has any tips or advice on how to get my GIMP to open would be very much appreciated. My laptops Windows Vista. I also have downloaded custom brushes for GIMP but that never was a problem before? :(

I've never had this issue, but here's one suggestion I have.
Can you try a system restore, back to a time when your Gimp was working?
More often then not, this kind issue is usually due to user error.

Note: This is merely a suggestion.

The thing that works in 98% of the cases is to rename your Gimp profile.

See here to see how/why.
