this is a wart on a face. how do I remove it, like it was normal smooth skin?

Another choice is using the heal brush (the icon looks like two bandaids crossed). You find a clear spot and control click, then place the cursor over the spot and click. You can adjust the size of the brush, first.

Personally if it's that small i would just select the wart area (Free Select Tool),and blur it smooth.
If it is a wart that is going to be on a bigger image, yeah i would use re synthesizer or the clone tool.
