My tablet is interacting oddly with gimp when drivers are installed. The side buttons on the pen do nothing when the pen is hovering over an open document. The pen tip seems to be cycling through semi-random functions, sometimes right clicking, sometimes click-and-dragging, sometimes changing my tool. When it does provide a proper left click it is in a completely unrelated part of the document, several inches from my cursor.
When interracting with any other program the pen functions normally. When the drivers are not installed the pen works fine with gimp - without pressure sensitivity of course.
I've got a cheap Monoprice tablet (8x6, product # 5556). Previously, on an older windows 7 computer I had this tablet working fine, pressure controls and all, but no go on the new one.
I've tried a couple older versions of gimp, all with the same results. The driver appears to be installed properly. I was able to use a pressure test provided by Pen Tablet Control Panel Verion(sic) 5.02, it read my pen's movement and pressure accurately.
Am I missing something?

I can't give much useful advice (I don't think) other than echo my similar experiences with Gimp 2.8 on Windows.

Firstly, I believe that there has been a lot of trouble with tablets working in 2.8, something to do with GTK. However, you say it's the same story with older versions, so its worth trying out other things to find the root of the problem.

It's important to make sure that you installed the correct drivers. In my case (though I use a different tablet to yours) I accidentally installed XP drivers on a Windows 7 machine. This resulted in my tablet working with some other programs, but not Gimp 2.8. At least, in my case, there where specific drivers for every version of Windows.

It's also important to always use the very latest drivers, and not just the ones from your tablets CD. Google it and track them down.

In Gimp's edit--->input devices, experiment with all the settings. Making sure the correct tablet is selected, always make sure the "mode" is set to "screen", and save the settings.

Alright, I got it fixed - thanks to Odinbc.
And I have no idea what the actual problem was. I followed all of the directions in the video I found on the FAQ page. Didn't work - though I fixed a bunch of settings that were wrong along the way. Ran a troubleshoot on my tablet, windows says it's in a USB 3.0 slot, I switch it to another slot and windows says it's okay. Didn't work. I downgraded to 2.6 again and it worked!
