Hey everyone, I'm in need of help
I own a Wacom Bamboo Pen&Touch tablet for over one year now, I never had any problems with it in GIMP, everything worked fine until now.
I recently tried out a Wacom Cintiq at my school and thus had to install a new driver for the tablet to work. After that my Bamboo tablet didn't work anymore in GIMP. I checked the input devices in GIMP and it still recognized my Bamboo tablet but it was greyed out.
I removed the Wacom device from the input devices, reinstalled GIMP and the Wacom driver, but without succes. My tablet isn't even listed in the input devices list.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Ohhh, I had a problem like this once, but I can't remember how I fixed it! >.<
I think all I did was restart the machine but I assume you did that already. :\

Well, I haven't had this specific problem. Everything else failing, I'd go through the usual troubleshooting:
- In the Control Panel, go to "Add or Remove Programs"/"Programs and Features" (its name depends on Windows version), and uninstall anything related to Wacom.
- Unplug your tablet.
- Restart the computer.
- Open GIMP and the input devices and be sure it's not got anything Wacom left in it.
- Go to wacom.com and download the driver for your Bamboo tablet. Be extra-double-sure you have the right driver for your tablet. For example, I have an old Intuos so I had to go to the legacy driver section.
- Install it. Restart the computer.
- If you're running a version of Windows with tablet input features (any version newer than XP I think?) go to the relevant control panels (Pen & Touch, or Tablet PC settings, or whatever) and turn off all features related to press-and-hold. Read more here.
- Plug in your Bamboo and open the Wacom Tablet Properties program. Touch your pen to the tablet. Your tablet and your pen should now be listed in the interface. Set up your options how you like.
- Open GIMP and hope you can add your tablet to the input devices again.

If that doesn't work, I've seen mention of some sort of GIMP user profile and that deleting it sometimes fixes things. Make a backup first!

Having 2 tablet drivers installed at the same time has caused me trouble in the past. Make sure to delete any driver of a previous tablet you're not using, if its still installed. I have 2 tablets, and can only use one driver at a time for Windows for some reason.

Using the latest drivers from your companies website is also very important. Sometimes, there are specific Windows versions for each driver.
